IL BORGO DI COLLEOLI

Our manager Charlotte’s review of her stay in this beautiful Tuscan accommodation:

“This charming medieval castle was the highlight of my recent trip to Italy to source out new top of the range accommodation for 2012. It's been renovated in accordance with Grade 1 'listed buildings' Italian regulations. This ensures the original features are retained even keeping its beautiful wooden beams throughout the building. Bedrooms have been modernized and tastefully decorated to a modern Tuscan style. The charming apartments vary from 1 bedroom right through to suites- with gorgeous king size beds, authentic looking bathrooms, and a cosy lounge/kitchen area. Apartment and studios have kitchenette areas incorporated. There is a reception and lounge area with courteous and helpful staff, along with a beautiful breakfast room- which converts into a wine bar in the evening! Dine in style in the 'I Secoli' restaurant, where you enjoy all typical Tuscan foods, cooked with local produce by local Italian chefs. You can even try truffles here!

Activities include wine tasting, horse riding, bike riding and even hot-air ballooning! And there are lots of places to walk. I did each evening-some wonderful sunsets! No matter what you decide to do, even if it is just relaxing amongst the ancient olive groves or taking dips in either of the conveniently situated scenic pools, your stay will certainly be a memorable one!”

s'-HERTOGENBOSCH - Why not stay a while? -

Check out 'Den Bosch in 60 seconds' film HERE

Before you take the Motorail south to Italy, from s'-Hertogenbosch station, why not stay awhile in this very beautiful and interesting city, also home to the magnificent St John's Cathedral.

Awarded the title of Most Hospitable City in October 2011, rich in art and culture, great shops (late night shopping on Thursdays), a very lively 'cafe-culture' and a fascinating history, it has so much to offer.

Why not take a city walk tour, an underground canal trip or relax in one of the city's numerous cafes and bars. You must try the famous Bossche Bollen, a speciality of the city, a bit like a giant profiterole!

We can offer accommodation, guided city tours and restaurant recommendations to suit YOU and your needs. Just call us and we will help!

Lorraine at Railsavers stayed recently at Hotel Central - see her review below. Give her a call if you want to know more!

HOTEL CENTRAL, Den Bosch

“After a ten minute walk from the train station, I checked in unannounced on a mild day in December to Hotel Central in s’-Hertogenbosch. Entering at the back of the hotel, you step down to the lower floor for reception, I was greeted by a very welcoming and efficient English speaking concierge and handed my key card along with an explanation of how it would also operate the elevator. (Very reassuring security there!). On entering my room I was struck by the cleanliness and facilities of the surroundings. Newly decorated in contemporary shades, it was spacious and welcoming. My bed was very comfortable, the room was warm and my view looked out over the market square. My room had a leather armchair, mini-bar, TV, with plenty of channels, tea and coffee facilities and a sweet placed on the bedside table!

The Hotel has a gym on the top floor which has stunning views over the city, a restaurant, a brasserie, bar and lounge areas. The whole place is very clean, welcoming and stylishly decorated and the staff very accommodating and pleasant. On leaving the Hotel to go and explore, the receptionist asked if I would like to take one of the umbrellas provided for guests at the front door as it looked like rain - kind and courteous service!

Later on that night I enjoyed a delicious three course meal in the Hotel restaurant de Leeuwenborgh. A delicious celeriac and garlic soup garnished with roasted almonds, tenderloin steak and Bearnaise sauce and a fabulous Dutch cheese platter with pear syrup and 7-grain bread. You can dine in the restaurant or in the Brasserie overlooking the market square, which was festively decked with Christmas lights.

After a good night’s sleep I headed down to breakfast in the 14th century vaulted gothic cellar and was greeted with a great breakfast display of morning goods, freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs any which way you like, you can even cook your own if you wish! Fine selection of yoghurts, cereals, breads and preserves, freshly baked croissants, cheeses, continental meats and smoked salmon, I was spoilt for choice! Again, the staff were friendly, helpful and discreet – newspapers were available also.

Before I left I sampled the famous Bossche Bollen in the Hotel brasserie, a tennis ball sized chocolate profiterole generously filled with chantilly cream, great with coffee! I couldn’t resist sampling them as the display fridge was situated right by the front door of the Hotel!

I will definitely be returning to the Hotel Central – great location, great staff and fabulous food!”
